Kim Kavin, Editor

Kim Kavin earned her stripes as an award-winning writer, editor and photographer in newspapers and magazines for more than ten years, including three as the executive editor of Yachting, before becoming Power and Motoryacht’s charter and cruising editor in 2003.

In between her duties as an officer on the board of directors of the world’s largest boating writers’ group, she travels the globe, inspects boats and gets to know crew, all with an eye toward helping readers understand what they will get for their money when choosing a charter yacht or a cruising destination.

Whether it’s sipping cocktails at sunset in Italy, hiking amid 250-pound sea lions in the Galapagos Islands, or swimming under the stars in the Caribbean, Kim is eager to share the secrets of her experience.

A certified scuba diver who has explored shark caves off Costa Rica and coral walls 100 feet below the surface in the Cayman Islands, Kim has a love of adventure. It extends to the entire charter and cruising experience, and she thrills in sampling new cuisine, meeting the locals ashore and exploring everything a yacht and destination have to offer. She uses her reporting, writing, editing, and photography skills to capture every aspect of every story.
