Vicem 65
By Elizabeth Ginns Britten
Spring 2005
While Im a sucker for pretty much any boat out
there, I periodically come across a design that truly stands out. Such
was the case when I laid eyes upon this 65-foot Turkish-built beauty from
Vicem Yachts (631-418-2700, www.vicemusa.com).
Her good looks stopped me dead in my tracks on the docks of the Norwalk
International In-Water Boat Show, and I simply had to climb aboard.
Take, for starters, the Vicem 65s handsomely designed hull. Her
clean lines are made of mahogany and teak, accented by stainless steel
fixtures. These, blended with her cold-molded hull bottom, create a look
as timeless as the boat is solid.
The 65 is also pleasing inside. She has a three-stateroom, two-head layout;
a fully stocked galley and dinette area amidships; plus a comfy saloon/wheelhouse
with seating for the whole crew and more.
But the best part about this stunner, hands down, is her 120-square-foot
teak-sole cockpit, accessible from the saloon via sliding teak-frame doors
that, when open, make the area one huge space for entertaining. Measuring
roughly 16 feet wide, it offers seating for at least 12 adults with enough
standing room for about 20 more. Its truly massive, and perfect
for catching some rays while sipping cocktails with friends at the end
of a long days cruise. To that end, the cockpit has a wet bar (also
teak) with grill, and a dining table to port.
If the weather turns foul, theres plenty of space inside the saloon
to entertain.
Base price is $1.39 million with twin 820-hp MAN diesels.
