Aicon 56
By Cynthia Barnes Spring
2005
Our odyssey occurred aboard Tooling
Around III, a brand-new Aicon 56 owned by U.S. dealer Tom Sulentic.
TAIII was built just a seagulls
soar away from the Aeolian Islands at the Giammoro shipyard run by Aicon
Yachts (954-713-8108, www.aiconyachts.com)
on the island of Sicily.
TAIII is an aquatic
Sophia Loren: curves accented in a form-fitting white shell and sparkling
chrome accessories, but warm, like the teak that glows under halogen lighting
inside the saloon. The master cabins head comes standard with a
bidet, and the other two cabins are comfortable with their own heads,
as well. Draft is just over three and a half feet.
We found everything on this boat sized just rightno
wasted space but plenty of room. The gleaming galley made us want to whip
up a plate of pasta on the spot, and the fridge was big enough to hold
a full complement of the lovely local wines. (The dining area seats six,
so it would make sense to have plenty aboard.) We were also enticed by
the flying bridge, where we could throw a few shrimp on the built-in gas
grill. Va bene, as the locals say. Its all good.
Base price with a pair of 811-hp Caterpillar 3406s is
$1.35 million.
