Meridian 540 Pilothouse
By Greg Breining Spring
2004
With six adults, one teenager, a pug pup, and three kayaks aboard, the space on our Meridian 540 Pilothouse was much needed. The boat is the second largest in the Meridian line at 56 feet, 9 inches LOA, and the open layout of her galley, bridge, and saloon make it easy to navigate interior spaces or find a place to sit or stretch out—even with luggage, reading material, snacks, towels, and camera equipment aboard.
The master stateroom spans the full 16-foot, 3-inch beam and has a queen island berth, a large vanity, an en suite head, and a combination tub and shower. With two additional cabins, the boat easily sleeps six (and can take two more people overnight in the saloon).
We enjoyed the open spaces on the flying bridge, in
the cockpit, and on the wide swim platform, but for those stereotypical
Seattle days when weather refuses to cooperate, the designers at Meridian
Yachts (888-413-5861, www.meridian-yachts.com)
included a Sony surround-sound home entertainment system with a 27-inch
television in the saloon. It will be a perfect place to unwind after dinner
at the pilothouse dinette, even with raindrops filling the view from the
large forward and side windows.
Base price for the 540 Pilothouse is about $1.115 million with the standard twin 635-hp Cummins QSM 11 MerCruiser diesels.
