Carver 46 Voyager
By Cynthia Barnes Spring
2004
We explored Door County aboard Carisma, a Carver 46 Voyager built in nearby Pulaski, Wisconsin. With three cabins, two heads, and a saloon and galley accented in granite and cherry, the 46 is one luxurious ride—even before you consider the headroom, which is nine feet in some places.
I particularly like the way the wraparound windows give a great view from every area of the saloon, including the raised dining space. The galley is perfectly designed for meal preparation, right down to the full-size, double-bowl sink. (Not that we cooked, with all of Door County’s great restaurants, but we could have.)
The 46 has a draft of 3'7", a fine match for Green Bay’s shallows. She also carries 150 gallons of water and sleeps six comfortably. Carver Yachts (920-822-1600, www.carveryachts.com) even designed a generous 6'8" of headroom into the master cabin, so you can invite a few of your favorite NBA players the next time you choose to cruise. Base price is $767,543 with Volvo Penta 635 diesels.
