Silverton 38 Sport Bridge
By Liz Pasch Spring 2006
The 38 Sport Bridge is the middle child in the Sport line built by Silverton Yachts (877-863-5298, www.silvertonyachts.com; American Marine Yacht Sales, 651-480-0015), but makes her own statement in terms of performance and style. The six feet, six inches of cabin headroom combined with a 14-foot, four-inch beam and windows all around make for the kind of spacious, airy feeling you get onboard much larger boats.
Accommodations include two staterooms, both with innerspring mattresses. One has a split berth and cedar-lined hanging locker, while the other has a queen island berth and private access to a split head. There’s also a sofa in the saloon that converts to a bed at the flip of a switch. Standard galley equipment includes a two-burner cooktop, a full-size refrigerator/freezer, and a microwave/convection oven.
The 38’s exterior has the same kind of thoughtful design, from the aft cockpit to the molded-in steps to starboard that lead to the flying bridge. There, an impressive overhang allows for tons of seating. Silverton’s trademark SideWalk feature—molded stairways between the bridge and bow—makes casting off, locking through, and docking easy for cruising couples.
Base price on the Silverton 38 Sport Bridge is $322,825. Twin gas and diesel power options are available, from 355 to 440 horsepower each.
